Crawl Space Cleanup in Charlotte, NC
704 Crawl Space Pros is a crawl space encapsulation and moisture control company serving Charlotte and the greater metro, NC. Crawl space cleanup is the unglamorous first step of nearly every other job on this site, and it is available on its own. Construction debris left by the original builder, insulation that has come down, shredded plastic sheeting, and whatever else has accumulated under the house in forty years.
What comes out
Most Charlotte crawl spaces we open have some combination of the same things: offcuts and packaging left from the original build, fallen fiberglass batts with paper facing, a 6-mil builder sheet torn into pieces, and organic debris that has blown or washed in through the vents.
All of it holds moisture, and the organic material feeds the same mold that grows on the joists. Removing it is not tidiness — it is taking out the material that keeps the space damp after the water problem is fixed.
- Construction debris, offcuts and packaging
- Collapsed or contaminated insulation, including paper facing
- Failed builder plastic and old, unsealed sheeting
- Organic debris, and evidence of animal entry where present
What cleanup is not
Cleanup on its own leaves you with a clean vented crawl space, which will be a dirty damp one again in time if nothing else changes. It is genuinely useful before a sale, before an inspection, or as the first stage of encapsulation — but we would rather say plainly that it is a preparation step than sell it as a fix.
If there is active mold growth on the wood, that is remediation rather than cleanup, and it is quoted separately.
Crawl Space Cleanup questions
What does crawl space cleanup cost in Charlotte?
It depends almost entirely on volume and access — how much material is under there and how hard it is to get out through the access door. It is most often quoted as the first line of a larger scope rather than alone. We will give you the cleanup figure on its own if that is all you want.
Do I need cleanup before encapsulation?
Yes, always. A barrier laid over debris does not seal to the ground, punctures on the sharp edges, and buries organic material that then decomposes under plastic. Every encapsulation quote we write includes clearing the space first.
Do you remove animal droppings and nesting material?
We remove general debris and nesting material as part of clearing the space. Where there is significant droppings contamination, that is a specialist remediation job with its own protocols and protective requirements, and we will tell you at the inspection rather than quote around it.
Not sure which of these your crawl space actually needs? The Charlotte cost guide breaks the whole system down component by component, and the cost calculator runs those same figures against your own square footage.
